Metropolis Design Group, in its 25th year of business, is a well-established firm providing both commercial and residential interior design services throughout the Twin Cities and surrounding metro area. Located in a sunny 1920’s storefront in Southwest Minneapolis, we provide a highly creative, boutique design atmosphere for both employees and our clients, in a great neighborhood. Our firm specializes in corporate and multi-family housing projects, and residentially, kitchen and bath design. Additionally, we are also a wholesale source of furnishings and fabrics for our end users.
We are currently filling a part time interior design position. The flexibility and freedom that a part time position has to offer should be desirable to all candidates applying. Candidates should be highly motivated and enjoy working both autonomously, as well as part of a team. Candidates should enjoy and have experience working directly with homeowners, business owners, developers, architects, general contractors and vendors. Understanding and experience with taking a project from start to finish, including programing, drawings, specifications, documentation, and project management, is crucial for this role.
about the position
The following criteria are must-have’s:
-2-4 years industry experience in a design role
-A CIDA or FIDER accredited degree in Interior Design
-A high proficiency in drawing, construction documentation and
3D modeling using REVIT
-Firsthand experience in preparing construction documents (commercial and residential) including all types of drawings, documentation, and specification
-The ability to work within budget parameters
-A reliable car for traveling to client appointments and vendors
The following skills are highly desired:
-Residential Interior design experience
-Field Measurements and Drafting floor plans
-Furniture layout experience for both commercial and residential furnishings and floor plans
-Working knowledge of the following: lighting placement and specifications; general electrical and plumbing systems; custom cabinetry, carpentry and millwork design and construction; architectural specialty finishes/specification; furnishings and fabrics, performance criteria
-Firsthand experience from the initial customer experience through final construction and implementation
-Excellent time-management skills
-Library organizing, sample returns, and occasional participation in window displays
-An affinity for fresh popcorn! Because we enjoy a lot of it!
What you can expect

- Position is Part Time: 20-30 hours/week, Tues, Wed, Thurs preferred but flexible
- Position may become full time over time
